AWE, WAGNER KREUSCH THREE DAYS WORKSHOP

The workshop will be immersed in Casale La Spinosa: a typical country house dating back from the 18th century, one hour away from Rome. Surrounded by a vast property of 5 hectares with ancient trees, olive groves, green fields and quiet woods, you’ll find peace and inspiration at every corner.

We’ll be delighted by the private visit of the stunning beauty of Ninfa Garden: more than 1300 different plants, the sound of water springs, the ruins of an medieval town emerging from trees and flowers, all of this contributes to the unicity of the world-renowned beauty of the garden of Ninfa. A real botanical treasure born at the beginning of 20th century, thanks to the work and vi- sion of the women of the Caetani family, owners of the area. Declared Natural Monument in 2000, its integrity and pres- ervation is maintained by the Caetani Foundation.

We’ll spend part of the workshop at Pantanello Park, part of Ninfa Garden: extended in an area of some 100 hectares right next to the Ninfa garden, is the result of the ambitious project run by the Caetani Foundation to recreate the original natural conditions of the Pontine marshes. It is today a unique habitat for plants, migrating birds and wildlife in general. The constant dialogue between water, land and light creates astonishing views and the sense of a primordial beauty.

THE GOALS

From a study by Keltner and Haidt for he Grater Good Science Center at Berkeley University “in the the upper reaches of pleasure is a little studied emotion: awe. Awe is central to the experience of religion, politics, nature and art. Fleeting and rare, experiences of awe can change the course of a life in profound and permanent ways”.

Based on the idea of Gabriela Grandi to explore the power of Awe in floral design, the tree days full immersion workshop leaded by Wagner Kreusch will explore the potential of aesthetic experiences to change our perception.

Our main goal is to reconnect floral designers to nature, our starting point will be the local seasonal materials foraged that are available to us in the region. Together we will take inspiration from nature to create conscious and intentional designs that respect the local landscape. Our aim is to encourage discussions about the creative potential of Floristry and sustainable practices focusing on collaborations and experimentations that strengthen the outcome of a project; enriching both the individual and the group creative process. The workshop will cover different aspects of floristry as a profession from Ikebana, large installations plus special demonstrations.

The workshop is a unique opportunity for any nature lover to come together, and to share this experience with other creatives.

WAGNER KREUSCH

Kreusch’s commitment to a more sustainable practice within floristry is deeply linked to his understanding of the medium as both an art form as well as an expression of culture. Kreusch studied at the SOGETSU SCHOOL OF IKEBANA under the supervision of the late Ikebana master and former director of Sogetsu London, Mr Shigeo Suga. Kreusch is a certified Sogetsu teacher simultaneously practicing and teaching this art form to- day.

Having co-founded the world renowned LONDON FLOWER SCHOOL in 2017 Kreusch’s focus as Creative Director was to bring awareness to floristry as an artform and to use his voice as a teacher to serve the in- dustry that he is so passionate about. Within the last years Kreusch took the opportunity to be fully immersed in the garden, embarking on a new journey to develop his art practice bringing to the foreground consciousness around the profession of floristry in the hope that more people can experience its powerful healing qualities as well as highlighting awareness of the fragility of our nat- ural environments.

THE HOSTS

TRAME DESIGN
Trame is a floral design concept created by Goffredo Serra in 2021. Based in Rome, its creative processrevolves around giving light and space to the hidden beauty that surrounds us: spontaneous plants and weeds that grow along the sidewalks, in our gardens, in the public spaces. Firmly believing in the sustainability of the entire process, everything simply starts from foraging around. And that’s where the challenge for beauty begins. Trame is a fluid project, it loves exploring new
perspectives, collaborations, edgy design.

COPIHUE FLORAL STUDIO
A floral design studio and school founded by Gabriela Grandi in 2016, dedicated to involve people around the wellbeing social value of contemporary beauty, through
flowers. It expresses to us an unconventional aesthetic: the flower is not the end of what you know, but the
beginning of what you don’t expect. Fragile and firmly
tenacious, for a natural and uncontrollable period it imposes its status, to become a cathartic place and involve the viewer in an inclusive experience.
